"Have fun, even if it’s not the same kind of fun everyone else is having."
When I was younger, I used to take up half of my living room with Barbie dolls, I would use VHS tapes as walls for my Barbie town and I decorated paper and tissues to use as bedding, wallpaper and rugs. Never did I think now that even when I was little that I had designing within me. As I got older, I began working in hospitality, mainly behind bars (Barbie was long gone by this point) which I have loved doing and since working in the real world and having the love of design I have decided to go into interior design with a goal to open my own bar and restaurant that I have designed from the kitchen sink to the marketing posters.
I have university to thank so much for helping me decide my goals by teaching me so much about designing and clients – and due to the location of Worcester University I was able to work in a beautiful bar which helped me realise my passions and decide my goals.
Who knew that a little girl who used to build and design Barbie houses and restaurants now wants to design real houses and restaurants 20 years later. Thank you Barbie, now let’s go party.
